Example: Campaign Binder

Organize sessions, NPCs, locations, and maps into a single, structured binder. Keep prep tidy and make things easy to find during play.

Example

Structure the Binder

Create sections for Sessions, NPCs, Locations, and Handouts so content grows neatly over time.

  • Session notes folder (one note per session)
  • NPCs and Locations organized by type
  • Attach images and maps where relevant

Notes & Continuity

Keep a running log of decisions, reveals, and open threads to drive future sessions.

  • Tag notes by arc or chapter
  • Link NPCs to factions and locations
  • Mark unresolved hooks to revisit

Find Anything Fast

Establish naming and tagging conventions so anything is findable in seconds at the table.

  • Use consistent prefixes (e.g., "S05" for Session 5)
  • Combine tags: "plot-hook", "clue", "rumor"
  • Bookmark useful queries for later

Steps

  • Create a collection for the campaign and add folders (Sessions, NPCs, Locations).
  • Import or create NPC and location entries; tag by theme and arc.
  • Add maps and images to relevant entries; keep filenames descriptive.
  • For each session, add a note with "what happened / progress clocks / open hooks".

Tips

  • Use tags for arcs ("arc:rebellion") and important beats ("reveal", "twist").
  • Keep a "current session" note pinned or easy to reach.
  • Review unresolved hooks every 3-4 sessions to keep momentum.
