Example: Great Houses

A sprawling web of political intrigue: five great houses, their heads and heirs, the factions that back them, and a throne everyone wants. This is what Fateweaver looks like once a world really grows.

Example at scale

Five Great Houses

Each house is its own folder of head, heir, and sworn swords, color-coded so clusters read at a glance.

  • Heads, heirs, and marriages
  • Folders group each house
  • House colors carry across the map

A Web of Allegiances

Sworn oaths, alliances, rivalries, and open war connect houses, factions, and places into one dense network.

  • Typed edges: sworn, allied, rivals, at war
  • Funded mercenaries and spies
  • Sieges and contested holds

Hidden Treachery

A broken oath and a betrayed crown sit buried in the web. Follow the edges to find who is really pulling the strings.

  • Secrets and ancient pacts as nodes
  • Betrayal and excommunication edges
  • Rival claims to the throne

Read it like an analyst

A map this dense is where Fateweaver's deeper tools earn their keep. The same data supports questions you cannot eyeball.

  • Run Graph Insights to find the quiet power broker and the shortest path from a sworn knight to the throne.
  • Use Map Replay to replay how alliances shifted across a campaign.
  • Add a timeline of the events that shaped these houses.
  • Save the house, faction, and allegiance taxonomy as a pack and reuse it in your next world.

Steps

  • Create a folder per house, then add its head, heir, and retainers.
  • Tag entities by role (royalty, noble, knight, faction, location).
  • Connect them with typed edges: sworn to, allied with, rivals, at war.
  • Filter to one house's neighborhood to untangle a single thread.

Tips

  • Give each house a distinct color so clusters are obvious when zoomed out.
  • When the web gets busy, hide a relationship type (like marriages) to focus.
  • Reserve a few nodes for secrets and pacts so reveals have somewhere to live.

Great Houses Preview

Pan, zoom, and select nodes. Open the Insights tab to run analysis modes or replay how the world grew. This is a read-only preview; editing and live collaboration happen in the app.
